Welcome to EEFC

We are an independent evangelical church in the centre of Enfield committed to the preaching and teaching of God's Word with the aim of glorifying God by calling and equipping people of all ages to be fully devoted followers of our Lord Jesus Christ. Gathered from a diversity of backgrounds we value our unity in the Lord Jesus and make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bonds of peace.

The church has three pastors who lead the church along with the other elders.

When Colin Smith was called to be the pastor of a church in Chicago, the congregation called Johnny to be the pastor. He shares the leadership of the fellowship with the other elders and has primary responsibility for the preaching and teaching of God's Word and the pastoral care of the congregation.

Johnny is married to Sandra. They have three children, Amy, Katie and Jenny.

Enfield Evangelical Free Church (EEFC) was founded in 1897 as Enfield Town Christian Mission. Its name was changed in 1957 to its present name.
Recent History Chronological order of dates

As an "evangelical" church, EEFC believes that the Bible, as originally given, is in its entirety the Word of God, without error and fully reliable in fact and doctrine. We believe that the death, resurrection, ascension and coming again of the Lord Jesus Christ, are at the heart of true Christian faith; that each individual needs to turn to God in repentance and faith and be born again; and that the Christian faith is to be lived out in a day to day submission to Christ as Lord.

The word "Free" in our name signifies that we are not attached to any denominational structure. The church is independent and self-governing. It is affiliated to the FIEC (the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches) - a network of nearly 450 local churches across the UK committed to a clear statement of evangelical faith, retaining their independent status, but working together.

Aim and Purpose of EEFC
Our aim as a local congregation of God's redeemed people is summarised in the following statement:

Aiming to glorify God by calling and equipping
people to be fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

In pursuit of this aim we seek to do four things:-
•  Honouring God's Name - by living to please Him and worshipping Him in Spirit and in truth.
• Teaching God's Word - by communicating and applying biblical truth in every area of church life so that we grow in increasing likeness to our Lord Jesus Christ.
• Serving God's People - by caring for one another and building one another up in the faith, so that we all reach maturity in Christ.
•  Extending God's Kingdom - by proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ, individually and corporately, so that others might confess Him as Lord.
