January 2012 - Pastor's Message
Shiny and New (well almost…)

January marks a significant time in the life of our local church community as we move into the new building God has generously provided for us.

It’s quite symbolic that it happened at the beginning of a new year because it pictures for us that our move to the new building is the beginning of a new time period of our life together as a local church.

Here are a few things that I hope will get us praying for all that is ahead of us in this new year, and new time of our life together as a local church .

New building: old opportunities
The new building will be a place where we hope to continue many of our old opportunities to make Jesus known.

Many of our regular activities such as Mum & Tots, Monday Fellowship and our Childrens and Youth work, will be making the move to the new building in the first few weeks of January. Please be praying that those who joined us at our temporary venues would continue to come. Please continue to pray for people that we have had regular contact with to put their faith in Jesus as Lord and Saviour.

New building: new opportunities
Moving into a new building also brings many new opportunities to make the Lord Jesus known, and to see His followers become “rooted and built up” in Him.

Please be praying about the planned new opportunities ahead of us. These include “The Hub” which will meet on Tuesday nights, where we will learn together from Jesus in small groups, and take time to pray together and enjoy a meal together, “The Way In” Cafe, and our Kidz Clubs with the coffee area running alongside them for families whilst the groups are running.

We should also pray that God would lead us to new opportunities to make His Son Jesus Christ known to our local area of Enfield. Simply by being in a new location we will encounter lots of new people. Pray that God will use our location and give us boldness to speak of the Lord Jesus Christ so that others might discover him too.

New building: new responsibilities
With a new building comes a new responsibility. Please pray for the safety and security of the new building as we adjust to being there. Especially pray for those with the responsibility of caring for these aspects of the new buildin.

New building: same message!
Whilst the new building marks a new phase of life together as a local community there is something that is totally unchanging: the message of the Lord Jesus Christ as the one who came into this world to save sinners. This is not a new message, neither is it a message that we can update or modernise.

It is the message that God has entrusted to followers of Jesus to pass on to others, because it is the truth that will save people from the coming judgement. It’s also the message that God has given to followers of Jesus to keep them growing in their love and knowledge of Him. It is the message that grows His church both in size and maturity.

The message of our Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour of the world will never ever change! This message does not change because Jesus does not change. Our verse for the year reminds us that“ Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever” Hebrews 13:8.

This is the message Jesus preached when He walked on this earth as a man. And it is the same Jesus who is risen and seated in heaven and is preaching this message through His church today. Jesus is unchanging. Jesus was the way people were saved yesterday; Jesus is the way people are saved today; and will be the way people are saved for ever.

Please pray that our local church holds unswervingly to the message of Jesus in all that we do together in this coming year and beyond.
