Wait & Follow One Saturday morning last month the 3D men’s Bible study group were studying the last sections of Psalm 119. Psalm 119 is a wonderful gift from God for every believer in the Lord Jesus. The more we read it the more we discover how it reflects the heart and mind and soul of the man or woman who has, and is, experiencing the grace of God and wants to live according to God’s Word. |

| A Love Story With Happy Ending? Not so long ago I watched a film on DVD. Among the “extras” on the disc was an alternative ending to the story. I could, in effect, choose what ending I wanted. Recently ITV1 asked viewers to choose the outcome of a series that they had been running. Those who had been watching the programme could vote to select how the storyline finished. Something similar, but much more important, occurs at the end of the book of Hosea. |

| Waiting I wonder if you are good at waiting. We were very struck at the Bush Hill Park prayer meeting at the frequency with which you read in the Psalms about waiting for the LORD. |

| Acting In Line With The Truth Of The Gospel When I was taught to hang wallpaper I learned the importance of a plumb-line – a piece of string with a heavy weight on the end which enables a straight line to be drawn on a wall. The secret to hanging wallpaper is keeping it in line with the plumb-line. According to Galatians 2:14 the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is like a plumb-line. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| Easter Reminders Easter reminds us of many things. It is a reminder of all that is at the heart of the Good News of the Lord Jesus. As the Apostle Paul writes: I want to remind you of the gospel ... that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day . . . . |
Jonah Jonah is a wonderful book of the Bible. We have just started to look at it on Sunday afternoons at the Four 0’Clock Service. It is jam packed with truth about God’s character. Truth that, if we are honest, exposes how often we are out of line with God, how often we do not share His heart for this world. Take the first two verses of the book for example. In these verses alone we see four great truths about God. |

Security For The Apprehensive As I sat down to write this article for Focus I received a Christmas greeting from friends visiting Australia. It included a picture of a Grandad walking down a road with his little grandson sitting securely on his shoulders. It reminded me of Deuteronomy 33:12 The people of Israel were about to enter the Promised Land, and Moses speaks words of encouragement to 11 of the 12 tribes of Israel. . |

| Good Things Come In Small Packages - so the saying goes. This Christmas Harrods make this same statement to entice us to buy Crème de la Mer lip balm with a solid silver lid (I’ll spare you the details of the price tag!). Harrods may simply be trying to encourage us to make this exclusive purchase at their store – but they have also unwittingly stated a great truth of the Christmas message. |

| Happy Thanksgiving This month "Thanksgiving" will be celebrated by millions across the United States of America. Thanksgiving is an annual one-day holiday to give thanks to God for the things one has at the end of the harvest season. For Christians, however, Psalm 136 reminds us that there are many reasons why we should give thanks to God each and every day. |

| Remember Who's with You Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the challenge the Lord Jesus has given to His people? The challenge of proclaiming Him and His salvation to the world. Have you ever been overwhelmed by the particular role He has given you in that great task? Whether it be as a children’s or youth worker; as a parent; as an open air worker; as a witness in your place of work or street; etc. |

| Shall We Pray? As many of you will be aware, September is a month of big changes for EEFC. A group of about thirty members are being set aside to begin a new work in the Bush Hill Park area of Enfield. The four o’clock Service will meet on Sunday afternoons in Leighton Road Gospel Hall . . . |
