GENERAL PROFILE

Enfield Evangelical Free Church (EEFC) is a town centre Bible teaching, Gospel proclaiming church in the London Borough of Enfield (due north of the centre of London, within the M25). It is affiliated to the FIEC.

As an "evangelical" church EEFC believes that the Bible as originally given is, in its entirety, the Word of God, without error and fully reliable in fact and doctrine. We believe that the Bible alone speaks with final authority and is always sufficient for all matters of faith and doctrine. We believe that the atoning death of our Lord Jesus Christ, and His physical resurrection, ascension and coming again are at the heart of true Christian faith; that each individual needs to turn to God in repentance and faith and be born again; and that the Christian faith is to be lived out in day to day submission to Christ as Lord.

The Tuesday Prayer Meeting

Our church aim is
To glorify God by calling and equipping people to be fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

In pursuit of this aim we are committed to doing four things –

Honouring God’s Name
Serving God’s people
Teaching God’s Word
Extending God’s Kingdom

The official membership of EEFC is about 280 with about 300 attending on Sunday mornings (including children) and 150-200 on Sunday evenings. The congregation is of mixed ages and reflects the ethnic mix of the community.

We are currently without a main building due to it being compulsorily purchased in September 2004. We currently meet in a local secondary school with our midweek activities being held in a small hall we own.

Details of our regular activities and outreach events can be found on our website at www.eefc.co.uk

Staff
The church has four pastors who lead the church along with the other elders.

Jonathan Prime
(Pastor) was previously a Scottish solicitor.  From 1993 to 1996 Johnny was the assistant pastor at EEFC.  He has been pastor since 1996.  He shares the leadership of the fellowship with the other elders and has primary responsibility for the preaching and teaching of God's Word and the pastoral care of the congregation.

David Williams (Assistant Pastor with responsibility for evangelism) was a school teacher before studying theology at Oak Hill College.  After working at an Anglican evangelical church in Burton, he came to Enfield in 2001.  He has particular responsibility for encouraging and stimulating evangelism, and leads our Christianity Explained Course.

Nathan Howard (Assistant Pastor with responsibility for children's and youth work) became a member of EEFC while studying at Oak Hill College. He now works full time at EEFC and has oversight of our children's and youth work.

Peter Maclure is the Part Time Pastor of Causeway Free Church, a church in Potters Bar we partner with.

Our Apprenticeship Scheme

The aims of our scheme are:

  • to give the apprentices a task of gospel ministry in the context of the local church;
  • to shape Christian character;
  • to improve basic Christian knowledge; and
  • to develop ministry skills.
  • The scheme runs from September to July (11 months). As last year we have space for two apprentices.  We have budgeted for £5000 per apprentice for their living accommodation and basic expenses. We will seek to arrange the living accommodation.

    The apprentices will be involved in various aspects of the life of the church, including youth and children’s work. They will meet regularly with the pastors and an example of the agreement and timetable agreed with the current apprentices can be obtained on request from J.R.Prime@btinternet.com

    The apprentices are involved in various practical tasks, including setting up for church meetings, operating the sound system at various events and other duties requested of them by the church staff.

    The training element of the scheme includes a Tuesday training morning session run jointly with Charles Dobbie of Holy Trinity Lyonsdown (an Anglican evangelical church in Barnet who run a similar scheme). The programme also includes doing some modules of the Moore College Distant learning course under our supervision. The cost of this is covered by Enfield Evangelical Free Church. The Tuesday session includes a variety of practical tasks including the preparation of Bible talks.
